📖 Ruqyah with Water – Complete Guide for Healing and Comfort

Ruqyah is an Islamic practice of healing and protection using verses from the Holy Qur’an. One of the simplest yet most effective ways is Ruqyah with Water, where selected Surahs are recited over clean water, then drunk or used for washing. This practice, rooted in the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ and his companions, brings both spiritual and physical relief.

In this guide, you’ll learn the step-by-step process, recommended Surahs, and how you can benefit from Ruqyah with Water in daily life.

🥛 Step 1: Prepare Clean Water

Start with clean, clear water in a glass, jug, or basin. Cold or fresh water is preferable as it feels more refreshing when consumed or used for washing later.

🕌 Step 2: Recite Qur’an Over the Water

Here are the main Surahs commonly used for Ruqyah, as practiced by the Prophet ﷺ and the Sahabah:

  1. Surah Al-Fātiḥah (1:1–7)

    • “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the worlds…”
  2. Āyatul Kursī – Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255

    • “Allah! There is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him…”
  3. Surah Al-Ikhlāṣ (112:1–4)

    • “Say: He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge…”
  4. Surah Al-Falaq (113:1–5)

    • “Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of the daybreak, from the evil of what He created…”
  5. Surah An-Nās (114:1–6)

    • “Say: I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind, the King of mankind, the God of mankind…”

While reciting, bring your mouth close to the water and blow gently into it. This was the practice of the Prophet ﷺ in various forms of Ruqyah.

🌬 Step 3: Blow Over the Water

After reciting the Surahs, blow lightly into the water and sincerely supplicate to Allah for healing, relief, and protection. The intention is crucial—believing that ultimate cure comes only from Allah.

🥛 Step 4: Drink and Wash

  • Drink part of the water to cleanse from within.
  • Wash or bathe with the remaining water, especially if experiencing illness, heaviness, or negative feelings.

📖 Hadith Reference: The Companions once used Surah Al-Fātiḥah as Ruqyah for a sick man, and the Prophet ﷺ approved and praised it. (Sahih Bukhari 5736)

✨ Conclusion

Ruqyah with Water is a powerful yet simple way to benefit from the healing words of the Qur’an. It brings peace of mind, strengthens faith, and provides comfort to the body and soul.

💬 Allah says:
“And We send down in the Qur’an that which is a healing and mercy for the believers.” — [Surah Al-Isra 17:82]

If you are searching for a natural and spiritual form of healing, Ruqyah with Water is a safe and meaningful practice you can perform at home.

👉 Always remember: the true source of healing is Allah alone. The water is only a medium, while Allah’s words provide the real cure.

📌 Note: Ruqyah is not a substitute for medical treatment. For serious conditions, please consult a qualified doctor.
